Reasi, a town and Municipal Council located in the Reasi district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has a rich historical background. Originally known as "Rasyal," the town derived its name from its old name. In the eighth century, Reasi was a part of the Bhimgarh state established by Rajput king Bhim Dev Rasyal.

Bhim Dev Rasyal founded the Bhimgarh State in the eighth century, making Reasi its center. The state flourished under his rule, contributing to the region's growth and development.
