Our History


Samba town is very important town of Jammu & Kashmir state situated on range of Shivalik Hills alongwith the National Highway on the bank of river Basantar at a distance of 40 Kilometers from Jammu city and 50 Km from the Lakhanpur town which is the gate way of Jammu & Kashmir. This is also an Industrial Town, due to this fact town remains crowded all the times and is thickly populated, thus having narrow streets which are only sources of communication to city areas. Due to its Industrial importance and situated on the national highway, people from the adjoining areas come to this town for their better livehood and most of them have settled here permanently thus arise to the extension of town in all the directions.

The Municipal Council Samba town comprises of 1 to 17 wards and its population as per survey 2018 is 25397, floating population is about 50,000 daily and is spread over 4.50 Sq. km and there are 5200 approx Houses, 1036 Shops, Samba Fort, District Hospital, 16 Govt. Buildings, 12 no. Banks, 11 no. Govt. & 11 No. Private Schools from Primary to Higher Secondary Level, 18 Temples, 2 Church & One Gurudwara.
