GhoManhasan town is located at 32.56°N 74.95°E. It has an average elevation of311 metres (1,020 feet). GhouManhasan is situated to the south western side of the Jammu and is at the distance of 15KM from Jammu city and is easily approachable by road. GhouManhasan town is believed to derive its name from a Community knows as Manhasa’s. The town is very near to the Jammu city and agriculture one. The land surrounding the town is fertile. Therefore, people of the town are engaged in the activity of agriculture and raring of animals.

The Municipal Committee came in to existence in the year 1986 and the town has lead to the growth of slum, by way of water lodging and the absence of proper disposal of waste and storm water. As of 2011 India census, Gho Manhasan had a population of 3944. Males constitute 53.5% of the population and females 46.5%. Gho Manhasan has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 63%. The local language primarily spoken in Gho Manhasan and nearby areas is Dogri. According to the 2011 census, 91.4% of the residents were Hindus, 7.9% were Sikhs and 0.6% were Christians. The annual growth rate of population is approximately 2%. In summer the climate is very hot & dry and cold in winter maximum temperature 47°c and minimum temperature is around 4°c respectively. Average rain fall in the area is about 1240 mm.
